Homeless Hotspots

Homeless Hotspots

Along with the Instagram Android application launch there was something called Homeless Hotspots at SXSW this past week.

The idea of Homeless Hotspots is to help homeless people get some more money and something to do. At SXSW many homeless people were given a Verizon 4G LTE MiFi hotspot that could be connected to only after you donated a specific amount of money to the Homeless Hotspot. The suggested amount is $2 for every 15 minutes that you use the hotspot.

There has been a lot of controversy behind Homeless People but in the end I think it’s a good idea. It helps people understand that there are many homeless people out there in the world, and in the process the homeless people get some extra money. Now that extra money probably won’t give them a home or anything like that, but it does help more and more people become aware of the homeless population.

Do you think that Homeless Hotspots are a good idea?

Why Android Needs To Be More Unified When It Comes To The Experience And Branding
Yeah, I wrote another article on why Android is broken in many ways and needs to change. I plan to write one on why Windows 8 has a huge potential next week at some point.

I really like the square corners in Windows 8. They really look a whole lot more clean than the rounded corners with Windows 7.
